Camí de Ronda

The Camí de Ronda (Camino de Ronda in Castilian) was a footpath built along the Costa Brava to help the Guardia Civil control the coast and stop smuggling. The origins are in the 19th century when it was formed from small footpaths through the cliffs along the coast of Catalunya. Much of the route is now a series of public paths often connecting tourist beaches and resorts. (Wikipedia)

GR-92 is one of the extensive Grand Rondonée (or GR) networks of hiking paths. It stretches from Portbou in France through Catalunya along the Mediterranean coast. The total length is 583km.

For most of the route, the Camí de Ronda and GR-92 overlap. That made it fairly easy for us to follow. To create our daily itinerary, I started with the "standard" list of stages then modified it based on availability of lodging. Since we were walking during the height of the tourist season (especially for French tourists), accommodations were in high demand.

This was our original plan:

As this through-walk evolved, I mainly relied on three blogs:
el GR92 del Josemi
Muffins in My Backpack

GR 92 - Sendero del Mediterráneo

As you'll see, the combination worked well for us.

Here's the overview map of our general plan:
