2 August - El Corte Inglés, Gràcia, and Font Màgica

After we returned to our VRBO, it was time for Martha and Allie to go shopping.

They walked to the Plaça de Catalunya. They eventually found a great view from the restaurant at the top of El Corte Inglés department store and called me to join them.

Our next destination was the Gràcia neighborhood. It's a quieter residential area right next to Eixample. We took a nice walk ...

... and found quite a few interesting sights. Unfortunately, most stores were closed for siesta time.

We found a rack of Oroweat bread in a small mercado.

As we were near the end of our walk, things started opening up again.

We found a McDonald's that served beer and decided to try it.

Bad idea!

We walked back to our neighborhood ...

... we introduced Allie to the tapas at Cervecería Catalana and tried a few new ones.

In the evening, we took the Metro to Plaça d'Espana to watch the Font Màgica show. The Magic Fountain was built in 1929 in front of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (in the Palau Nacional de Montjuïc).

By the time it's dark, there is quite a crowd!

The show is actually a series of shows with different fountain and light patterns set to different types of music. It was definitely worth the price - free! We would go again for sure.

It was time to get some rest after a very busy few days.
